Changes to the Pad

Our motley crew came mighty close to moving a few months back.  We had an offer on a house on a street we've always dreamed of living on, but the seller turned it down. By the time he came back to accept, we had changed our minds on the concept of uprooting.  It just didn't feel right.  In exchange for loading up a Penske (or three), we decided to make a few aesthetic changes to our house.  I should say, I convinced my husband to allow me to make some aesthetic changes to our house.

The first change....some front yard landscape.  It was rather drab and lifeless and to be frank, since Dude's accident, we have a hard time being out front.  Adding some life has changed our attitude about that entire side of our house, so it was well worth the time and money spent.  We did the design and shopped for all the plants, rocks, boulders etc. and paid someone else to do all the back breaking work.  That's a beautiful thing.

This is the only before shot I could find.

We cut out beds along the driveway and made the current beds deeper.  Boulders have been added, along with river rock, since these shots were taken.  We're in the process of painting all the shutters black.

Change #2....our bedroom.  Last year we did Phase I of the remodel, adding new bedding and curtains.  The final phase came last month with the addition of the Beetle Kill wood wall, new furniture (paid for from the sale of the outdated mission style set), accessories, headboard, lamps, and a new chair.  I did this slowly as to not produce a heart attack from my other half.  We're rather stoked with how it all turned out.

Last update....Squirt's room got a little refresher with a to die for antique metal bed frame.  Naturally that called for a host of new accessories to make the space feel more 3 year old grown up like.

The end of decorative changes.  For today.  My designer brain never fully sleeps.
