This blog has taken a dramatic backseat over the past couple years. Most of that I blame on the insurgence of using our phones for capturing pictures, which means less blog worthy shots. When I DO take out the mighty camera machine I'm always glad I did. Below is a photographic update on life as we know it here in Denver.
5th grade? DONE.
A successful Lego Robotics season for the dude.
Vog family descends on Denver!!!!
Vacay in Steamboat and Michigan. Summer joy.
6th grade (Middle School!?!*) and 2nd Grade
The chickens are all growed up. We only lost one to revealing it's Roosterness. Dude is in LOVE with these backyard animals.
FINE guys. We can buy these 5 ridiculously cuddly, darling, hilarious, affordable little creatures and take care of them in a small wooden box in our living room. We can give them water once per day, food once per 3 days and FORCE ourselves to love on them. Just FINE.
Miss Frizzle.
She will look like the angel below in approximately 6 weeks. Stop it. Just stop it with sense of humor of the Lord above.
Chickira.
She's from the same family line as her sister, Miss Frizzle. But she'll be graced with the majestic look below. Again. Stop it.
Jozie.
This little lady was Reagan's pick. She will grow up to have puffy cheeks of pure fluff. And 5 toes. She's a prolific brown egg layer. And she makes me smile. Not your ordinary backyard chicken.
Smores.
She'll grow up to be a big girl, speckled in black and white, sporting fuzzy feet. Her round little backside is my favorite.
Last, but certainly not least is our friend
Combuskin. (of course it's namesake is a chicken Pokemon)
She is Ry's choice and will lay us some real pretty blue and pink eggs. The brown stripes on her back are beautiful and she's our biggest girl right now. Already sproutin' those chicken wings.
As predicted, we've all fallen hard for these little squeakers. We do understand they can die any time and might develop into cock-a-doodles, but we're loving on them until those things occur and hopefully we'll be able to hold on to the majority into their adulthood. We're not sure if Enzo is hoping for the same results as he hasn't left his perch next to their box in 48 hours. We have to force him to go up to bed in fear he might construct a ladder and force his way into their hearts. Quite literally.
We'll keep ya up to speed on the development of these cutie patoots.
Our crew currently lives in the middle of the Michigan woods in a log cabin. We called Denver home (thus the name of this blog) for 17 years until 2019, when we uprooted our unsuspecting children and dog to this new life in the Midwest. After a loooong hiatus, we're back in this simple internet space trying to document life from our quirky perspective. Thanks for being here.
