Hands Off - Not YO Mamma!

The white stork of babydome is permanently perching himself in the lives of those around us as of late. You can safely figure that 1.3 babies will be born from someone in our direct line of contact each month for the coming year.

Our ex-neighbor buds had baby #2 a couple weeks ago. We spent Friday night visiting and trying to keep dude distracted so I could simply look at little Noah without being attacked by his jealous antics. If I pick up another child, my leg becomes a sort of jungle gym and his already piercing little voice raises to an entirely new octave only clearly heard by canines. The picture below is dude's attempt to gain the attention of the adults in the room. It was cute...but ended quickly as I wasn't about to let him bust my rock star San Diego shades!

Small group friends Russ and Heather were graced with little Waverley last week and seem to be entranced with their blessing. She's beautiful and you'll just have to trust me on that one as I neglected to bring my sidekick (camera) with me for our visit. Next up, Kate and Dan in Chi-town!

Expecting a Call from The Fray - Any Day

When we brought the dude home we were told that he was bound to be musical. Apparently he hopped around in the womb whenever music was introduced and comes from a line of very musical folk. We smiled when we were told of his future in art of music and didn't think much of this little personality tid bit, but I think you'll see from the video below that we underestimated our son's very obvious potential.

The Fray may be Colorado's latest musical sensation, but dude is about to put them to shame with his renditions of Rascal Flats, a little song about a star named Twinkle and a tune about the merrily rowin' a boat. We'll share future royalties with all those who believed in him from the tender age of two (or as he would say, two-three.)

Keep on singing people! And if you're missing quite a few key words in your lyrics, it's okay. Dude's right there with ya.

The Ins N Outs of San Diego - Girls Weekend Style

My hubby and I are big into quality time spent both together and very much alone. It makes for the perfect balance in our blissful existence as man and wife. Which is why we often take long guys and girls weekends away. Time to chill, sleep soundly, wake when we feel the need, eat what we want, when we want, read a book, talk about "stuff" that falls in the realm of "girly" or "manly" that we might not otherwise. You get the drift. We appreciate the fact that each of us is cool with this notion of "time away."

My time away just occurred last weekend. I'm happy to report that it was just what the doctor ordered. Colorado friend Megan and I relaxed, enjoyed beautiful scenery, saw the sights, sat on the beach, successfully navigated our way through a street system clearly designed by drunks, and we're still friends after 3 days of non-stop interaction! Granted, the weather was better in Denver than in "the most consistently beautiful temperatured city in the country" (BS!) but that's okay. We still took it all in. Love San Diego! And love our men for making it all possible.

Our 2 Year Old Super Star

Happy Birthday to dude, happy birthday to dude, happy birthday to our dude, happy birthday to dude. I feel like I need to sing via the blog since I won't be here in person tomorrow to sing to my little man. Kinda feeling guilty at the moment, but I'll do my best to get over it. I made him cupcakes with sprinkles to bring to day care, if that counts for anything.

As we put our stinker to bed tonight we looked at his cute little face and wondered where the past 2 years have gone. With each phase of his life, we always say it's our favorite. Hard to believe that he gets more fun with each passing day, but he keeps pulling it off:) We're incredibly blessed to be able to watch our dude grow up. God definitely gave us the best gift we could have ever imagined and we can't wait to see what his future years will bring. Happy birthday buddy. Mom and Dad (and a whole lot of other people) love you a ridiculous amount. This video is pretty darn long, but if you love the dude it'll be worth your time:)

Gettin' Our Party On...2 Year Old Style

Our little man and his best bud Brady are 5 days apart. SO...rather than invite everyone to two separate parties this year, we joined forces and hosted the party of all parties this past weekend (well, the kiddos might agree with that). We rented out a bouncing place - a new concept to me as a first time parent - and invited all our friends and fam to bounce with us, eat pizza and chow on some green frog cake. That about sums it up! I'm learning that if kids birthday parties are chaotic, crowded, loud and filled with sweaty bodies, consider it a job well done:)

Cara and I made a pretty good team in the planning process! Thanks for partnering with us friends...I think our dudes enjoyed their 2 year b-day experience!

Duders real birthday is this Friday (the day I leave for a girls weekend in sunny San Diego)...I know, I'm a terrible example of a parent. I have a special birthday tribute for him that I'll post before I leave. And he and Dad will have a fabulous guys weekend together:)

Brother Ky

Our bro and Uncly Kyle (aka "Kyky") just graced us with a long weekend visit. From the minute duder woke up on Friday morning and saw Kyle, he was hooked. They were attached at the hip until their last possible waking minute together. If Kyle wasn't in the same room we would hear, "Kyky! Are you?" (translation - Kyle, where are you?). They played basketball, baseball, bubbles, went to the park, read books...on and on. We ventured to the Light Rail for dude's first train ride and made our way through the crowds at Denver's St. Patricks Day Parade. It was picture perfect weather, so we spent ample time outdoors taking it all in.
Thanks for taking days off to visit us Ky! We had a great time and hope we can do it again soon. As dude would say, "la yooooou and bye bye Ky Ky!"
There were about 10,000 people at the parade.

St. Patty's Day brings out the special folk.

The backpack is one of dude's favorite modes of transportation.

Quality Nanna Time

A weekend with Nanna is like a little taste of heaven (for dude and me). My mom came out Friday afternoon for one of those "just because" weekends. She got a little taste of the current enormity of our little man's personality. Lots of laughing, playing, book reading, walks, etc. Tim even gave Mom his blessing to have a Curious George tea party with duder. We're very secure in his boyhood:) I'm pretty sure Nanna and grandson enjoyed each other's company! I'm embarrassed to say, only one picture was taken. I know, what was I smoking? Thanks for coming out Nanna - can't wait to see you again WITH Pappa soon! Below are a couple shots from our outside playing with sticks time today. He loves that new "kite" Mom! $2 can certainly provide a whole lot of fun.
