Our Little Ski Bum

Tim has been meaning to take Duder to the slopes all winter, but the weekends slowly filled up and we found ourselves with one day in the month of March that allowed for it. Given the summer-like temps over the past month, the conditions up there consisted of a whole lotta slush, so Tim chose to hang in the lodge while Duder took his first lesson. Dude was pumped for his inaugural trip to the slopes, mainly because he remembered riding the gondola last time we were up there. He wasn't super happy when he learned that the little "magic carpet" was as close to a gondola as he was gonna get.

A summary of the day....he learned to get his skis on, he learned how to walk in the boots, he learned how to ride the magic carpet (with a few wipe outs), he learned how to fall, but also learned how to make it down in the upright position as well. Tim said he received quite a bit of attention from the instructors, but he made it. With minimal tears and an adequate amount of self motivation. We were pleased overall with the athletic experiment and think we'll try again next year. More than just once.

The not so cool "magic carpet."  They had to do emergency stops on it a couple times when Dude hit the deck.

Patient instructors helped Dude find his way.

Look at him go!  Look at him go!  He's NOT the one on the ground either.

Check out the form.  Looks like a professional boarder.  Or like a little Dude about to wipe out.

A sad but memorable video of our little man on the slopes, proving that he knows how to fall down and get back up again.  We're proud of you bud.
