My Favorite Man is Now My Age

Sorry for the lapse folks.  We headed to the mid-west for the past 10 days to see family.  Had a great time, but there's some blogging make up to do before we cover that.

My handsome hubby had a b-day before we left town, which means he's the same age as his bride.  He appreciates those 6 months of being the baby in the relationship.  We tend to spoil each other for our birthdays (sometimes a bit too much perhaps).  This year I hired a babysitter all day Saturday, we loaded up a backpack, put on our hiking shoes, drove 2 hours and did a 7 mile hike.  Just us.  No little legs or whining mouths.  I can't remember the last official hike we did, so this was a breath of fresh air.  Literally.  We never fail to be in awe of the beauty we live so close to.  This hike was up past Boulder and ended at Blue Lake. We passed over multiple rivers, streams, smaller lakes and tons of thick woods.  It was awesome.  Our total exhaustion showed the fact that we're not 21.  Rather pathetic, but we embrace it.  We stopped at Chautauqua on Boulder on our way home for a fabulous happy hour on the massive wrap-around porch.  If you need a romantic, unique spot for a meal, head there friends.  You won't regret it.

This was the final destination of the hike.  The lake was still covered in glaciers.

Hey look - it's me.  Sometimes I make the blog.

We hiked to the top of that mountain.  Rather impressive when you really look at it huh?  Well, we thought it was.

Tim tested out his new golf clubs with some of his dudes on his actual birthday and we ended the day with a fam picnic.  Oh..not to mention his trip up to Blackhawk for a night of man gambling on Friday night.  We love our Tim is a big big way.  I think he felt it that weekend.

Lemonade Stand Mini Shoots

A while back I saw some photos tagged on Facebook from a photographer in Michigan.  She had a brilliant idea that I proceeded to make plans to adopt.  My high school gal pal, Anne, was an integral part to my plan.  Anne just started a new company, "Chars Hutch," which restores old wood and furniture and makes it new and awesome.  Check out her facebook page.  I did her photos and logo and she's doing some crazy fun wood pieces for me.  We call ourselves Team Anne and Gwen.  I'm having a hoot (as my Grandma would say) working with her.

Anne and her hubbie, Kevin, crafted this shabby chic and ridiculously darling lemonade stand and we gathered the children this week for sample photos.  We figure if we can show mamas out there how precious little tykes look in this natural Colorado scape, they'll want to book a mini session for their monkeys.

Here's the dealio.  On Saturday, August 24, I'm going to set up Lemonade Stand shop near the Platte River in Littleton and invite families or just kiddos to sign up for a mini shoot.  Below is what you'll receive:

$100
25 minute shoot with your kids or your family and the stand
Includes a CD with all edited images

It's as simple as that.  I'll open up slots starting at 4:30 and going every 30 minutes until 6:30pm.  Email me at gwenythv@yahoo.com if you'd like to book a mini session!

This is the epitome of my children.

Red, White & Blue Day

For the first year, our fam decided to celebrate the fourth at home with the neighborhood clan.  They organize a big parade every year, followed by games and a picnic at the park, so that was our game plan this year.  We did miss the cabin, but this was rowdy too.

The kids helped us decorate the stroller and Dude's bike, we packed a bunch of food (man am I already tired of packing picnics already this summer) and headed to the park.  Good times. That evening we headed to the Kroms beautiful new house for a cook out and ate our brains out.  Lime a Ritas became a new friend of mine thanks to that BBQ.   Have you tried?  Hope you enjoyed your 4th as much as we did!

Squirt's best girly friends.  How darling are they?

Our Randy.  Who the men in the neighborhood emulate.

Dude lined up with his buddy Josh for the egg hunt but bailed the second he saw the first egg break.  He wasn't about the allow his hands to feel the effects of losing this game.  That's our kid.

By the end of the day this patriotic dress (saved just for this occasion  was toast.  Between Popsicles, ketchup, paint, egg, snot and who knows what else, it was destined for the clothing grave.

Some of my very favoritest girls in all the world.  How blessed am I that they all live within a block of me?
